NHL News: Ottawa Senators Re-Sign Donovan Sebrango

Donovan Sebrango, Ottawa Senators

According to PuckPedia, the Ottawa Senators have signed defenseman Donovan Sebrango to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2025-26 season. At the NHL level, he will carry a $775,000 cap hit.

Sebrango was one of the remaining restricted free agents (RFAs) in the NHL. Yet, he has now landed his new contract with the Senators and will be looking to earn a spot on the club's NHL roster from here.

Sebrango played in his first two career NHL games this past season with Ottawa, where he recorded zero points and a minus-1 rating. Down in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Belleville Senators in 2024-25, he posted eight goals, 12 assists, 20 points, and 79 penalty minutes. This was after the left-shot defenseman had seven assists in 35 games during the 2023-24 season with Belleville.

Overall, Sebrango has been trending in the right direction with his development, and it is clear that he has a bright future ahead of him. The 2020 third-round pick will now be aiming to continue to improve his all-around game. If he does, there certainly is a real chance that the promising defenseman will get more chances at the NHL level next season with the Sens. We will need to wait and see what happens on that front from here.
