Philadelphia Flyers: Best Addition & Worst Subtraction Of 2025 NHL Off-Season

Ryan Poehling, Philadelphia Flyers

The NHL season is just about here, which is undoubtedly exciting news for hockey fans. Due to this, we here at NHL Trade Rumors will be starting a series looking at each team's best addition and worst subtraction of the 2025 NHL off-season.

In this latest edition of the series, we will be focusing on the Philadelphia Flyers.

Best Addition: Trevor Zegras

The Flyers added some solid players to their roster this offseason, like Dan Vladar and Christian Dvorak. However, their top addition of the offseason is undoubtely Trevor Zegras. By bringing in Zegras, the Flyers have added a 24-year-old top-six center who should be a nice part of their core moving forward. If he bounces back, he will give the Flyers' forward group a major boost.

Worst Subtraction: Ryan Poehling

There is no question that the Flyers needed a young and skilled forward like Zegras, but they had to give up Ryan Poehling in the trade with the Anaheim Ducks. Poehling was a nice part of the Flyers' bottom six this past season, as he set new career highs with 12 goals, 19 points, and 31 points in 68 games. Overall, Poehling was a solid player in Philly, but it is understandable that they moved him to bring in a young forward like Zegras.
