Report: McDavid and Oilers Yet to Discuss Numbers

Patience is a virtue, and for Edmonton Oilers' fans, they're reportedly going to need some more of it.

According to multiple reports, including from hockey insider Frank Seravalli, the Oilers and Connor McDavid's camp have yet to discuss any type of numbers when it comes to his potential long-term contract extension.

McDavid was asked about the potential extension at Team Canada's Olympic Orientation Camp, and while he confirmed he intends to win in Edmonton, he left a sliver of doubt that an extension was coming any time soon. And from all accounts, that appears to be the case.

Expect to see McDavid play into the new season without a contract extension, which can't sit well with everyone in Edmonton. He's been eligible to sign since July 1st, and considering he's the best player in the world, and the biggest part of the franchise moving forward, many are surprised the team wasn't sitting with blank cheque once the clock hit 12:01 am July 1st.
