The Toronto Maple Leafs remain the NHL’s most valuable franchise, topping Sportico’s 2025 valuations at $4.25 billion

This marks the fifth straight year Toronto has led the league, outpacing the New York Rangers ($3.65 billion) and Montreal Canadiens ($3.3 billion).

Rounding out the top five are the Boston Bruins ($3 billion) and the Los Angeles Kings ($2.96 billion).

Leafs Lead the NHL in Most Valuable Franchises

According to Sportico’s Kurt Badenhausen, the Leafs’ dominance comes from unrivaled ticket sales, sponsorships, and media revenue, with Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment also owning Scotiabank Arena, one of the highest-grossing venues in the world.

The NHL’s overall financial health is booming as well, with the average team now worth $2.1 billion, a 17% year-over-year increase. Standouts include the Carolina Hurricanes and two-time defending champion Florida Panthers, who saw valuation jumps of 49% and 51% respectively.

Perhaps most striking, the league’s lowest-valued franchise, the Columbus Blue Jackets, now sits at $1.3 billion, the same floor as MLB’s Miami Marlins.

With expansion fees expected to exceed $2 billion, NHL ownership is more lucrative than ever.

While the Leafs still chase their elusive first Stanley Cup since 1967, their financial dominance has stayed the same: Toronto remains hockey’s most powerful brand, and the growth across the league suggests the business of the NHL has never been stronger.
