This is the second time that Olausson is on the move since the offseason, as the Colorado Avalanche traded him to the Sharks for Danil Gushchin back in July. Now, his time with the Sharks organization has ended before he even played a game in 2025-26.
Olausson was originally selected by the Avalanche with the 28th overall pick of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. Following this, the former first-round pick played in four games over three seasons with the Avalanche, where he posted zero points. In 61 games this past season with the Avalanche's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Colorado Eagles, he had 11 goals, 26 points, and a plus-1 rating.
Masters, on the other hand, was selected by the Wild with the 118th overall pick of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot defenseman spent most of this season in the ECHL with the Iowa Heartlanders, where he posted five goals, 13 points, and a plus-2 rating in 27 games. He also recorded one goal, three points, and a minus-3 rating in 16 AHL games with the Iowa Wild in 2024-25.
Overall, this is a minor swap between the Sharks and Wild.
