Winnipeg Jets' Jonathan Toews Injured Vs. Minnesota Wild
Tough scene for the Winnipeg Jets as center Jonathan Toews left Tuesday's game against the Minnesota Wild due to injury. The Jets lost the game 3-2, and along with Toews, also lost Vladislav Namestnikov to injury.
Toews left the game with roughly 9:05 remaining in the second period, and did not return for the third. Namestnikov, on the other hand, went to the dressing room after being hit from behind by Wild's Yakov Trenin late in the third period. Namestnikov appeared to hit his head on the boards during the play.
The #NHLJets have already lost Jonathan Toews to an apparent injury in tonight’s game. Now this ugly hit by Yakov Trenin on Vlad Namestnikov, which leads to a 2-minute boarding penalty. Incredibly, Namestnikov appears to be OK. pic.twitter.com/ucDhS7vYlZ

After for Toews, Jets' head coach Scott Arniel confirmed he tweaked something during the play and will be further evaluated on Wednesday. Toews has battled his way back into the league after a two-year battle with a variety of health concerns including long-Covid.
Toews had logged 10 minutes of ice-time during the game and had won six of his 10 faceoffs against the Wild. Namestnikov, meanwhile, was pulled by the concussion spotter and is likely to miss the start of the regular season.
Tuesday was the third preseason game Toews had dressed in, and he started the contest in the middle of Cole Perfetti and Nino Niederreiter. For now, no word yet on how long he's expected to be out, but everyone in hockey is hoping it's a short-term ailment.
