3 Potential Trade Targets For Minnesota Wild
The Minnesota Wild are 5-6-3 to start the season, but have won two in a row and look to be starting to turn things around, but they need help.
Anthony Di Marco reported, "The Wild are in the market to bolster their middle-6 forward group. It is still early to tie any specific names to the Wild, but it is for certain that they are looking for help up front." There are already some teams separating themselves as teams that will likely be selling by the trade deadline or sooner, so let's dive into three potential trade targets for the Wild.
Blake Coleman
The Calgary Flames are in last place in the league and can't score. This rough start to the season might finally signal the beginning of a much-needed rebuild. There are plenty of names that have already been thrown around, including Blake Coleman. He has one year left on his deal after this season and is a very good two-way, middle-6 forward. The veteran leads the Flames with five goals and has six points in 14 games. His cap hit is $4.9 million AAV, but he has a list of 10 teams he would be traded to. He could fit in well on the third line over Marcus Foligno, who has zero points, or Vinnie Hinostroza.
Oskar Sundqvist
Oskar Sundqvist from the St. Louis Blues would cost less than Coleman to get and also has a lower cap hit. The Blues have been struggling to begin the season, but I don't think they are in the same boat as Calgary and need a rebuild, maybe just a retool of sorts and give more young players opportunities. Sundqvist may not look to leave, but if he is planning on becoming a UFA after the season, the Blues may be able to get a third-round pick for him. He is a third liner as well, plays on the power play and penalty kill, and has five assists in seven games. His cap hit is only $1.5 million AAV.
Philipp Kurashev
If the Wild are looking for someone to possibly keep around for a little bit if he fits in, Philipp Kurashev would be a good target to go after with his ceiling. He broke out in Chicago, fell off, but has found his game again this season with the San Jose Sharks. The 26-year-old has five goals and nine points in 11 games and is on the second line. He can score and his confidence is back up. He just needed a change in scenery. Kurashev is signed for just one year at $1.2 million AAV and is an RFA after the season. If he continues playing how he is, his price won't get to a first-round pick, but it will be around a second or third as well.
