3 Teams That Could Be In Trade Talks With Blues For A Forward

Brayden Schenn & Jordan Binnington, St. Louis Blues
The St. Louis Blues are not a good team this season and it is going to take quite a bit to turn things around so that the GM doesn't start to have to make significant changes. The Blues are stuck in the middle while having too many tradeable veterans in places where the youth can step in and step up to take over once they're gone. It makes sense for a retool because this isn't a team likely to rebuild at this stage.

The Blues are in talks with teams, as it would be odd if GMs don't call and see who's available for what price.

Pierre PeBrun reported, "The Blues have made it abundantly clear...they're willing to listen on a lot of things. The Wild are looking for a top-6 forward. Leafs, there's pressure on Treliving to do something. Calgary's made a lot of calls. There's that kind of activity."

The five Blues who have had the most noise surrounding them to this point in the season include Jordan Kyrou, Brayden Schenn, Justin Faulk, Jordan Binnington, and Oskar Sundqvist.

The Minnesota Wild have not had the start to the season that they expected, but that's because the forward depth has been much less than ideal, with players like Marcus Foligno recording one assist in 17 games and Yakov Trenin recording three assists in 18 games. Injuries haven't helped, but if the team brings in a top-6 forward, possibly from the Blues, then it would allow them to shift Marcus Johansson, who has six goals and 15 points so far, down a line to spread out the scoring.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are .500 and are scrambling. The expectation is that they make the playoffs and some players just aren't performing. The Maple Leafs and Blues are no strangers to trades, but as they're looking for a bigger fish, Faulk, Schenn, or even Kyrou could be on their radar.

The Calgary Flames are seemingly refusing to do a full breakdown and rebuild, even though they are last in the NHL. This could instead mean that they try to change around some pieces. As the Blues are in the same position, a trade could work to benefit both teams.
