NHL Rumors: Kings Getting Trade Offers For Brandt Clarke
League sources say the Los Angeles Kings are listening only long enough to say no. Clarke is tracking as a long-term piece on Jim Hiller’s blue line and the organization’s immediate priority is re-signing Adrian Kempe before shifting focus to Clarke’s next deal.
Why the phones keep ringing
Right-shot defense with offense is a scarce resource, and Clarke checks every box. He was drafted eighth overall, has already produced in limited minutes, and is coming out of his entry-level contract as an RFA without arbitration rights.
So far this season, the 22-year-old has recorded two goals, seven points, a +4 plus/minus rating and 24 blocked shots across 14 games played.
If you ask me, I’d definitely play Brandt Clarke much more than just 3rd pairing minutes. pic.twitter.com/TM6FZFESCd

That profile creates leverage for Los Angeles and curiosity for rivals, especially with demand spiking for top-four righties around the league. The lack of an early extension has definitely fueled chatter, even dating back to last season, but the delay ties back to the Kings sequencing Kempe’s negotiation first, not to any desire to move Clarke.
Why the Kings keep saying no
The Kings see Clarke as a contributor right now and a future pillar who can climb from second pair usage into heavier minutes. With team control beyond this season, management can choose a bridge or long-term structure once Kempe is sorted.
Philadelphia is looking for a defenseman, while Los Angeles is in the market for a winger. Marc Bergevin has attended the last few Flyers games. The Flyers have plenty of wingers, and one of them could be moved. If I were the Flyers’ GM, I’d try to acquire Clarke or Anderson.

Trading him only makes sense for a clear upgrade on defense, and those offers are not on the table. In short, the interest is high, but the price would be massive, and Los Angeles has no incentive to move him right now.
