NHL Rumors: Canucks Linked to Ryan O’Reilly, But He Might Not Want Them

The Vancouver Canucks have been linked to Ryan O’Reilly as they continue searching for a second-line center, with multiple rumor roundups placing the Nashville Predators veteran on Vancouver’s radar.

Recent segments note his name “popping up” in trade chatter and frame him as a target that makes sense for a club hungry for structure down the middle.

Why Vancouver wants Ryan O’Reilly

O’Reilly still drives value as a matchup center who will win draws, kill penalties, and can chip in offense, exactly the profile Vancouver has sought since reshuffling its forward group.

Even amid Nashville’s struggles, he’s been productive, while his reputation for detail fits the Canucks’ need for reliability behind their top line.

This season, the 34-year-old has recorded six goals and 13 total points across 18 games played. Over the past two seasons, he's recorded 47 goals and 122 total points over 161 games played.

Would Ryan O’Reilly choose Vancouver?

That is the sticking point. A Sekeres & Price clip circulating this week raises the question of whether players like O’Reilly actually want to come to Vancouver, with reporting suggesting he would prefer a “very legitimate contender” if moved.

The tone tracks with O’Reilly’s own recent, candid self-critique after a Predators loss, clearly showing he wants to win now. Put together, the linkage is real, but his willingness may hinge on how strongly he views the Canucks’ Cup odds right now.
