NHL News: Red Wings Call Up Top Prospect Nate Danielson

The Detroit Red Wings have made a notable roster move, as they have recalled top prospect Nate Danielson from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Danielson is one of the Red Wings' most promising youngsters. The Atlantic Division club selected him with the ninth-overall pick of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, and he is expected to be a big part of their future. Thus, it is undoubtedly significant that the Red Wings are now giving him a shot on their NHL roster with this call-up.

When looking at how Danielson has been performing in the AHL with the Griffins, it is understandable that the Red Wings are giving him this opportunity. In four games this season so far with the Griffins, he has recorded one goal, four assists, five points, and a plus-2 rating. Now, he will be looking to translate some of this offense over to the NHL level with the Red Wings.

Danielson just played his first season with the Griffins during the 2024-25 season, where he recorded 12 goals, 27 assists, 39 points, and a plus-4 rating in 71 games. This was after he had 12 goals, 29 assists, 41 points, and a plus-20 rating in 28 games with the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League (WHL) during the 2023-24 season.
