Oilers Trade Rumors: 3 Trade Targets to Help Improve Goaltending Issues

The Edmonton Oilers are having goaltending issues this season, which is essentially a carry over to their identity from last season. The Oilers have started the season 6-6-4 and are giving up 3.44 goals per game.

Edmonton is coming off a dismal 9-3 loss to the Colorado Avalanche, at home Saturday, and the rumor mill has picked up in a major way when it comes to finding a solution in net. Look for the Oilers to gauge some price tags this week as they'll look to options on then trade market.

Here's three goaltenders who have been linked to ending up on the Oilers at some point this season:

Tristan Jarry, Pittsburgh Penguins

Jarry is on the shelve for a few weeks, but it's actually giving the Penguins a chance to showcase Arturs Silovs and Sergei Murashov, who are their future in net. Jarry's eventually going to get traded, it's only a matter of time, and the Oilers make some sense for a bounce-back destination. Jarry has two seasons left at $5.3 million AAV, and so far this season, has posted a 5-2-0 record, with a .911 save percentage, and 2.60 goals against average.

Devon Levi, Buffalo Sabres

Levi is getting frustrated with how the Sabres are using him, and considering there's going to be major changes in Buffalo this season, it makes a ton of sense for the Sabres to give Levi his wish. He's 6-1-0 with the AHL's Rochester Americans, and is coming off a 25-13-4 season with a 2.20 GAA, meanwhile, can't get any minutes in Buffalo. Edmonton makes a ton of sense as a great landing spot to have Levi kick-start his career.

Jordan Binnington, St. Louis Blues

The Blues are open for business and they're looking to change up the culture in the dressing room. Binnington is going to be surpassed by Joel Hofer as their number-one goaltender, and the Blues and Oilers could make amends on contract disputes, and do some business together. Binnington has one season left on his contract, and GM Doug Armstrong won't give him away to a rival for nothing, but if the Oilers are willing to overspend a little bit, they could land the potential Team Canada Olympic starter.
