This is undoubtedly an unfortunate injury update for both Dubois and the Capitals. With it, the 27-year-old forward will be out until at least early February, but could be sidelined for as long as early March if it takes him four months to recover. In either scenario, the Capitals are going to be without one of their top players for a significant chunk of the season.
Dubois last played for the Capitals during their Oct. 31 matchup against the New York Islanders but left early due to his injury. During that contest, he was limited to only seven shifts and had 6:02 of ice time.
Dubois has appeared in six games this season for the Capitals, where he has recorded zero points, three blocks, and six hits. This is after he scored 20 goals and set new career highs with 46 assists and 66 points in 82 games during his first season with the Capitals in 2024-25.
In 604 career NHL games split between the Columbus Blue Jackets, Winnipeg Jets, Los Angeles Kings, and Capitals, Dubois has recorded 165 goals, 243 assists, 408 points, and a plus-31 rating.
