Blackhawks' Connor Bedard injured in last-second freak accident

Tough scene in the dying seconds of Friday's game against the St. Louis Blues, as Chicago Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard was injured on a freak accident in the final seconds.

Bedard suffered a right shoulder injury in the 3-2 loss to the Blues, as he was checked by Blues center Brayden Schenn on a faceoff with 0.8 seconds left. Blackhawks' head coach Jeff Blashill called it a 'freak accident' after the game, which makes it seem like his shoulder popped out of place thanks to the dangerous push from Schenn.

Bedard's been ruled out of Saturday's game against the Detroit Red Wings, and there's expected to be a update on his status on Monday. Obviously, everyone is holding their breath that it's not separated and he's still going to be available for the Olympics, should Team Canada decide to add him to the team this month.

The former first-overall pick is having a stellar season, scoring 19 goals and 44 points through 31 games. Bedard ranks third in the NHL in scoring, behind just Nathan MacKinnon and Connor McDavid. Not bad company.

Bedard had two points Friday night, assisting on both of the team's goals, and he now leads the team in scoring by a whopping 18 points.
