Canucks Trade Rumors: 5 Players Who Could Be Traded For Quinn Hughes

The Vancouver Canucks are open for business. GM Patrik Allvin has told teams around the league the Canucks are willing to work with just about every team, and will listen to just about anyone off their roster. This includes captain Quinn Hughes, who the team knows is leaving by the time he hits free agency in two summers.

President Jim Rutherford shockingly admitted that Hughes wants to eventually play with his brothers in an exit press conference to end last season, and now, with just one year left on his deal, and no trade protection, there's plenty of trade chatter surrounding the Canucks captain.

The Canucks management duo isn't interested in just draft picks and mid-level prospects for their captain, they want substance, and high-end talent with massive potential. Let's start with the New Jersey Devils, they have defenceman Simon Nemec and forward Dawson Mercer, who the Canucks will surely want in a package for Hughes.

Head over to the Philadelphia Flyers, where top prospect Porter Martone will be in the mix for the Canucks. The Flyers are gaining steam as an underdog destination for Hughes, and with Martone in their package, could have a strong case to get Allvin's attention.

The Detroit Red Wings have been rumored to have interest, with 23-year-old forward Lucas Raymond being the prized jewel for the Canucks to zone in on. Raymond doesn't have trade protection for three more seasons, and makes just a little bit more than Hughes at $8.07 million AAV, through the 2031-32 season.

Lastly, Andrei Svechnikov of the Carolina Hurricanes is a name that's been linked to the Canucks in the past, and if they get involved in the Hughes sweepstakes, look for the Russian winger to be heading to Western Canada.

Trade talks have picked up in a major way across the NHL, and Hughes and the Canucks are right in the middle of the conversations.
