Devils Trade Rumors: 4 Players Involved in Trade Talks in New Jersey

The New Jersey Devils have been busy talking trade with a number of different teams, and general manager Tom Fitzgerald has a few trade candidates he's willing to part with.

Rumor has it that the Devils have been actively talking to the Nashville Predators and Vancouver Canucks regarding a number of players, including Michael Bunting, Steven Stamkos, Ryan O'Reilly, and Quinn Hughes. No, the Devils won't be landing all of these players, but there's a very good chance one of the winds up in New Jersey, sooner then later.

As far as trade candidates, yes, they will vary depending on if it's Hughes coming, or Bunting, but for the most part, word is the Devils have been willing to include Dawson Mercer in talks for Hughes, and young defenceman Simon Nemec. Meanwhile, in the talks with the Predators, Paul Cotter is a name that's come up for Bunting, along with goaltender Nico Daws.

The Devils enter action on Saturday with a 16-11-1 record, sitting in a four-way tie with 33 points, but on the outside looking in at the playoff picture. The team was just shut out for the second straight game, the first time that's been done in the Sheldon Keefe era.

Fitzgerald and management have been some of the busiest execs in the league, as trade talks have been heating up for a couple of weeks in New Jersey. While it seems like Hughes will have to wait, and they'll eventually sign him in two summers, or else the Detroit Red Wings or Philadelphia Flyers will have by then, but as far as a big trade goes, keep an eye on the Predators as a dance partner.
