NHL Trade Rumors: 3 Teams Linked to Rangers' Vincent Trocheck

Rangers forward Vincent Trocheck
The New York Rangers are ready for their fire sale. Nearly everyone is up for grabs, and it's beginning to sound like center Vincent Trocheck could be the No. 1 trade piece that teams around the league clamour for.

"It’s Vincent Trocheck that will likely be the most valuable piece the Rangers could move at this time," writes insider Marco D'Amico.

Given that he plays a premium position, and one that is in very short supply at this trade deadline, as far as impact centers go, Trocheck could bring in a big haul for GM Chris Drury.

“I know a few teams have already asked the Rangers what the plan is with him right now,” an NHL source told the insider. “I know there has been some interest in him. He’d be the perfect 2C on a contending team at a really good salary. If the Rangers get a big offer for him, which I’d expect to happen, Chris is going to have to think long and hard.”

Now, the 32-year-old does hold a 10-team no-trade clause, so there could be some bumps in the road to navigate, but Drury would be remiss if he doesn't see what's out there for him. Trocheck still has three years to run on his deal at a very reasonable $5.625 million cap hit. He's a seven-time 20-goal scorer, and an excellent two-way player who contributes on both special teams units.

D'Amico notes three teams that he "would be expected to be involved":

  • L.A. Kings
  • Minnesota Wild
  • Carolina Hurricanes

The Wild and Kings are notable teams desperately in need of another center, while the Hurricanes are always sniffing around the biggest trade bait bits around the league. And they, of course, are very familiar with what Trocheck can do.

Insider David Pagnotta also has thrown out the Wild as a serious Trocheck suitor.

And while Puck Empire is also in on that suggestion, Minnesota hockey insider Michael Russo has weighed in as well, saying they probably will be, but he hasn't heard anything concrete as of yet.

For the Canes, Trocheck would be a great fit. We know this because he was for two years before heading to the Rangers in 2022.

Trocheck has 29 points in 35 games this season, and has handed out 115 hits.
