Projected Extension Numbers For Christian Dvorak & Flyers

Christian Dvorak, Philadelphia Flyers center

We brought you the word a few days back that the Philadelphia Flyers are looking to work out a multi-year extension with surprise top-line center Christian Dvorak. Signed to a one-year, $5.4 million deal in the offseason, the 29-year-old has had a strong first season in Philly.

Now, insider David Pagnotta is adding more detail to the ongoing negotiations, projecting what a deal might look like for the 10-year NHL veteran.

It sounds like three years in that $5.5M range is realistic. That's what they've been talking about. The numbers have gone back and forth, three years, four years, five years, but I think that the sweet spot is in and around the three-year mark, at that $16-$17M range. I think there's been a lot of progress there, and it wouldn't surprise me if in the next few days here that we see some type of announcement.

Dvorak is loving it in Philly, and loving playing with Trevor Zegras and Travis Konecny on that top line.

Through 38 games, he has 25 points along with a plus/minus rating of +8. He's playing a four-year high 17:01 of ice time per night.

Dvorak & Zegras in line for extensions with Flyers

Zegras, by the way, is another guy the Flyers are wanting to get inked to an extension. He, too, is a pending UFA, and he's had a renaissance year next to Dvorak on the first line, recapturing his offensive potential, with 39 points in 39 games. He's on a career high pace for goals (31) and points (82).

For now, Pagnotta says that those negotiations are not as far along as Dvorak's, but he does expect something to get going on that in January.
