3 Los Angeles Kings Trade Targets With Fiala Out for Season
The Los Angeles Kings are not a big fan of Olympic hockey. In Switzerland's matchup against Canada on Friday, Kings winger Kevin Fiala fell awkwardly with Tom Wilson landing on his leg, and Fiala's since had season-ending leg surgery in Italy.
It's the worst news possible for the Kings, as they'll now have a giant hole in their top six once the Olympic break concludes. Three points out of a playoff spot, look for GM Ken Holland to make a significant deal ahead of the March 6 deadline.
Here's three Kings trade targets they'll have high on their list:
Nazem Kadri
The Calgary Flames have a tough dilemma with re-tooling on the fly, and keeping the fanbase engaged because they have a new arena opening in a couple years. Kadri's been involved in trade talks all season long and has connected with GM Craig Conroy to confirm he's open to be moved to the right situation. Playing hockey in Los Angeles is something Kadri is open to, the Kings like him to step in this season, and play an even bigger role next year with Anze Kopitar retires.
Owen Tippett
The Kings are going to want to add a scoring touch, and not many people shoot the puck better than Owen Tippett. He's versatile to play either wing and brings a physical element to his game, which the Kings crave. Philly is open to just about anything with their roster and could align nicely as trade partners for the Kings. If these two teams make a deal before Mar. 6, expect to see Tippett heading to LA.
Bobby McMann
The Maple Leafs will be selling and McMann is available as a pending free-agent winger. He's had a great season playing mostly on the top line alongside Auston Matthews and McMann would bring scoring punch, a strong work ethic, and he's never shy to throw the body around. McMann will cost a first-round pick or top prospect, and the Kings have their first, and two second-rounders for the 2026 draft, so Holland has the ability to get creative with his offers. Don't be surprised to see the Kings and Maple Leafs pull off a trade this season. At just $1.3 million cap hit, McMann is an easy target.
