Bruins & Blues Linked to Blockbuster Deadline Deal

Hold onto your hats because this trade deadline could be one for the ages. The NHL resumed action this week and trade talks are as hot as ever, one week away from the Mar.6 deadline. Two teams to keep an eye on, the Boston Bruins and St. Louis Blues.

Daily Faceoff's Antony Di Marco recently linked the two clubs, suggestion the stars could align for a blockbuster move ahead of the deadline, involving Blues forward Robert Thomas. Di Marco recently reported:

The Blues had assistant GM Tim Taylor and vice-president of hockey operations Peter Chiarelli in attendance for the Bruins’ game last night, which doesn’t seem like a coincidence. The Fourth Period mentioned Blues captain Brayden Schenn as a target for Sweeney, and while there is no reason to believe that isn’t the case, sources indicated to DFO that 26-year old pivot Robert Thomas is a name the Bruins really like.

The Bruins are loaded with trade assets, including four first-round picks over the next two drafts and Di Marco feels Boston would be willing to move on Matthew Poitras and Dean Letourneau, two of their better prospects.

The Blues are closing in on a fire sale, as Colton Parayko is available, same goes for Justin Faulk, Jordan Kyrou, Brayden Schenn and Jordan Binnington.

Meanwhile, Thomas would give the Bruins a true number-one center, and someone to pair with Pavel Zacha and Fraser Minten as a decent, 1,2,3.

Keep an eye on the Bruins, they could be making a huge splash in the very near future.
