Predators' Steven Stamkos Rejecting Trade Offers

The Nashville Predators are opening to listen to trade offers on veteran forward Steven Stamkos, but it's Stamkos who is rejecting a change of scenery.

According to reports, the Predators have talked to other teams on their asking price on Stamkos, but he's not interested in waiving his no-movement clause. The 36-year-old has two years remaining on his current deal, earning $8 million AAV.

“I haven’t talked to [GM Barry Trotz] at all about that,” Stamkos said. “Obviously, there’s stuff that gets reported, but what I’ll say, with this group, we want to be together. I can only control what I can control, but I love being here. We want to play in meaningful hockey games and we’re playing in meaningful hockey games right now.”

The Predators are 27-24-7 on the season, sitting fifth in the Central Division, just two points back of the wild-card spot held by the Seattle Kraken. With Stamkos wanting to stay, don't be surprised to see Ryan O'Reilly ask to stay as well.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Marchessault and Michael Bunting remain two trade candidates out of Nashville, despite their push for the playoffs. If for some reason Stamkos has a change of heart over the next week, it's been reported he'd prefer to go to Dallas, Tampa Bay, or Minnesota.
