Anthony Stolarz Spends Night in Hospital After Taking Puck in the Throat

Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz

Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Anthony Stolarz has had more than his share of injury troubles since joining the team. Saturday night, he didn't even make it through warmups before suffering his latest setback. A puck in the throat left him charging off the ice, and heading to hospital.

Stolarz was supposed to start the game in net for Toronto, but instead, he was taken to hospital for precautionary imaging.

It was a shot from William Nylander, of all people, that got Stolarz during the warmup. Somewhat ironically, it was just earlier this week that head coach Craig Berube called out Nylander for not shooting enough. Don't think this is what he had in mind, however.

Joseph Woll was called upon to make the start on back-to-back nights, the first time he has done so in his career. He was peppered with 43 shots by the Ottawa Senators, allowing five goals for an .884 save percentage on the night. The Sens won the game, 5-2.

We'll await word on the latest on Stolarz's condition.

In 22 games this season, Stolarz has an .894 Sv% and a 3.34 goals against average.
