Calgary Flames mulling over final trade offers for Nazem Kadri
The Calgary Flames are closing in on moving Nazem Kadri and are trying to maximize the return in the ongoing bidding war. Kadri's made it clear to GM Craig Conroy he'll accept a trade this season, and prefers to be moved to a contender.
The Utah Mammoth, Dallas Stars, Carolina Hurricanes, Colorado Avalanche, Boston Bruins, and Montreal Canadiens have all been rumored to have made offers for Kadri in the past two weeks. Conroy is looking for a first-round pick and a top prospect in return for the veteran forward.
Kadri, 35, has three more seasons at $7 million AAV, and owns a 13-team no-trade list. The former Stanley Cup champion has been the Flames best offensive threat this season, leading Calgary with 41 points in 59 games.
The Flames have not met expectations this season and it's time for Conroy to re-tool/rebuild on the fly, and they'll be looking to turn things around quickly in Calgary, as they have a new arena opening in two years and want to be competitive to sells tickets and partnerships.
Chris Johnston: Re Nazem Kadri: Definitely things are picking up with talks between the Avalanche and the Flames; it's getting more and more likely I would say that he moves - Chris Johnston Show
Keep an eye on Calgary, along with Kadri, Blake Coleman and Mackenzie Weegar have been involved in trade conversations and Coleman is very likely to be dealt, meanwhile, Weegar is more of a long shot unless a team blows Conroy out of the water with their trade offer.
"Kadri would like to go to a contender, but… He wants to do right by the Flames."
