Shocking Reason Why Canucks Didn't Trade Kane or Blueger
The reason, according to general manager Patrik Allvin, was pretty simple and unexpected.
According to The Athletic's Thomas Drance, the Canucks never received a single formal trade offer for either player.
Canucks Received No Offers for Kane or Blueger
Speaking after the deadline, Allvin described the trade market as “very unpredictable” and admitted he was surprised the two pending unrestricted free agents drew no concrete offers.
“I didn’t get any offers,” Allvin explained. “So I was a little bit surprised there. Those two guys have been playing really well for us.”

The situation stood out even more because several comparable depth players around the league were moved before the deadline.
Bottom-six centers and veteran forwards were traded for mid-to-late round picks, which made the lack of offers for Blueger especially puzzling.
The 34-year-old Kane has recorded 11 goals, 27 points, 102 hits, and 78 penalty minutes across 61 games played this season.
Vancouver Could Still Keep Teddy Blueger
While Evander Kane is widely expected to test free agency this summer, Blueger’s situation may be different. Reports indicate the Canucks could explore signing the two-way center to a contract extension instead of losing him for nothing.

In 16 games this season, Blueger has six goals, 11 points, and a +1 plus/minus rating. Across three seasons in Vancouver, Blueger has 65 points in 166 games played, along with a solid 50.8 faceoff percentage.
