Is Boeser A Goner When the Rebuild Kicks Into Full Gear?

The fallout from the confrontation between J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson has had far-reaching consequences. It arguably began the path the Vancouver Canucks are on, with a rebuild on the horizon, despite its unpopularity with Jim Rutherford and general manager Patrik Allvin.

Miller was traded to the New York Rangers for Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini, and a 1st-round pick in Jan. 2025.

Now, with Miller gone, defenseman and former Captain Quinn Hughes gone, the Canucks are in the throes of havoc with Allvin contemplating his next move.

All options point to moving out players who aren't cut out for a rebuild, and one player whose future is in question is forward Brock Boeser. A superstar forward, who has said he wants to stay in Vancouver, but is he fit to help lead the team into the future?

I committed to be here, and you know, I'm seeing what's going on," Boeser said. You know, we're rebuilding, but you know, I feel like I can be a leader and show the guys, you know, the right way. And you know what you need to do in the gym, what you need to do on the ice and the way you need to play. Just how these young guys need to mature as they get older and older and learn to play the right way

Will the Vancouver Canucks Trade Brock Boeser In the Summer?

Boeser is a former 40-goal scorer who could yield decent assets in trade, if the Canucks decide to make a decision to send him packing, out of Vancouver, B.C.

There were multiple Eastern Conference teams interested in Boeser, which included a laundry list of teams aiming for contention: the New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, and New York Islanders, of which two roster former teammates Bo Horvat and J.T. Miller.

Allvin will try to get the best price for Boeser, who is a valuable forward and could help his next team push to the Stanley Cup playoffs.

But the question is, what will it cost?

Last year, the team signed him to a seven-year, $50.75 million contract, which means the Canucks might have to retain some salary in order to maximize a return for Boeser.

In 75 games, Boeser scored 25 goals and 50 points. Any trade for the veteran player will be of consequence for the winning team.
