New York Islanders Reject Vancouver Canucks Trade Offer

Trade talks around the NHL are wild at the moment, and two teams smack dab in the middle of it all are the New York Islanders and Vancouver Canucks.

The Canucks have been busy moving Tyler Myers to the Dallas Stars, and have also had Conor Garland and Brock Boeser involved in trade offers. While Boeser has been linked to landing with the Bruins, the Canucks offered Garland to the Islanders for one of their best prospects. Vancouver wanted one of Kashawn Aitcheson or Cole Eiserman in return for Garland, and the Isles shut talks down immediately.

Anthony Duclair was rumored to be who the Isles were willing to part with, along with a mid-round pick or mid-level prospect, and at this point have no interest in moving their top prospects. There's been rumors the Isles would consider it if Jordan Kyrou or Robert Thomas were being acquired from the St. Louis Blues.

Garland, 29, doesn't currently have any trade protection and holds a $4.9 million cap hit this season, with his $6 million AAV extension kicking in next season, running through the 2032 season. You know it's been a messy season in Vancouver when they're actively trying to move players they've signed to long-term extensions.

Keep an eye on the Islanders, they're going to be aggressive before Friday afternoon. If it isn't Garland, expect them to acquire one of Bobby McMann or Nick Robertson from the Toronto Maple Leafs, or Blake Coleman from the Calgary Flames.
