Oilers' Mattias Janmark to miss rest of 2025-26 season

The Edmonton Oilers will be without depth forward Matias Janmark for the rest of the season, ,.

The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta was first to report Janmark's injury troubles, as he's set to undergo surgery on Wednesday. Don't be surprised to see the Oilers make a move to boost their bottom six before 3pm on Friday.

At this point, it's unknown what exactly Janmark is getting surgery on, but head coach Kris Knoblauch did mention he's been dealing with a nagging injury for multiple months.

Janmark last played Wednesday night after the Olympic break, seeing just 2:30 of ice-time before leaving for the night. The Oilers lost 6-5 and continue to slide down the standings. The Danderyd, Sweden native missed the first month of the campaign with an undisclosed injury, not making his season debut until Nov. 10.

Janmark is in the second season of a three-year contract, earning $1.45 million AAV. He's appeared in 43 games this year, scoring one goal and seven assists, for eight points. Janmark's been averaging just under 12 minutes of ice time per contest.

The Oilers enter the new week sitting in third place in the Pacific Division with a 28-23-8 record.
