3 Offseason Trade Destinations for Canucks' Drew O'Connor
The Vancouver Canucks traded multiple players this season to kick off their rebuild. This will likely carry over to the summer, and one specific Canucks forward who could be a trade candidate to watch is Drew O'Connor. The 27-year-old forward will be a pending UFA in 2026-27 and could be a good trade chip for the Canucks to dangle during the summer.
Because of this, let's look at three teams that could look to acquire O'Connor during the offseason.
New Jersey Devils
The Devils need to add more scoring to their bottom six this offseason, so it would make sense if they pursued O'Connor during the offseason. The Chatham, New Jersey native has scored a career-high 17 goals this season with the Canucks and has 29 points in 78 games. This could make him a solid bottom-six addition for the Devils.
Detroit Red Wings
The Red Wings should be looking to boost their bottom six this offseason, and bringing in a player like O'Connor would have them do just that. O'Connor could slot very nicely on their third line if acquired. Furthermore, he would also give them another option to consider for their penalty kill if brought in.
Vegas Golden Knights
The Golden Knights could also be a team to keep an eye on when it comes to O'Connor. They should be looking to improve their forward depth during the offseason, and O'Connor would be a nice addition to their roster because of it. Due to his versatility, he could move up and down the Golden Knights' lineup if needed. This would benefit a team like the Golden Knights nicely.
