3 Offseason Trade Destinations for Canucks' Elias Pettersson

Elias Pettersson, Vancouver Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks are officially in a rebuild and will be a big team to watch during the offseason because of it. One of their biggest trade candidates is forward Elias Pettersson, as it is no secret that the 27-year-old is in need of a change of scenery.

Due to this, let's look at three teams that could look to acquire the former 102-point center this summer.

Detroit Red Wings

The Red Wings desperately need another top-six center, so they could be a team to watch when it comes to Pettersson. If they acquired him, he could slot nicely on their second line with star sniper Alex DeBrincat. The Red Wings also have cap space to work with, so they could make a lot of sense for a skilled center like Pettersson.

Carolina Hurricanes

The Hurricanes have been connected to Pettersson in the past, and it would not be surprising if they targeted him during the offseason. They could use another high-impact center on their roster, and Pettersson is capable of being that when playing at his best. He could also thrive playing on a top contender like the Canes.

Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks could make for an intriguing landing spot for Pettersson. Connor Bedard could use more skill around him on Chicago's roster, and bringing in a top-six forward like Pettersson could help things on that front. The Blackhawks have been linked to Pettersson before, and they have both the money and trading assets to pull off a move for the Canucks skilled center.
