NHL Rumors: 2 Calgary Flames Defensemen Who Could Be Traded
The Calgary Flames are entering the offseason as a team to keep an eye on. With the Flames being in a rebuild, it would not be surprising in the slightest if they continue to trade more of their veteran players during the summer.
Due to this, let's look at two Flames defensemen who have the potential to be traded this offseason.
Zach Whitecloud
Since being acquired by the Flames in the deal that sent Rasmus Andersson to the Vegas Golden Knights, Whitecloud has been a very popular name in the rumor mill. It is understandable, as he would have the potential to be a very good trade chip for the Flames to dangle. Contenders are always on the hunt for big right-shot defensemen who play a steady game, so they could get a good return for Whitecloud if they deal him.
Olli Maatta
Olli Maatta is another veteran Flames defenseman who has the potential to be moved during the summer. The 31-year-old defenseman thrived with the Flames after being acquired from the Utah Mammoth ahead of the trade deadline in the MacKenzie Weegar deal. Due to this, it would not be surprising if the Flames considered moving Maatta while his trade value might be increased.
