NHL Rumors: 3 San Jose Sharks Defenseman Targets
The San Jose Sharks need to look to improve their defense during the offseason. With the Sharks having multiple pending UFA defensemen and simply needing to upgrade their blueline, it would not be surprising if they add more than one solid defender during the summer.
Due to this, let's look at three defensemen who the Sharks should strongly consider bringing in during the summer.
Braden Schneider, New York Rangers
Schneider was connected to the Sharks leading up to the 2026 NHL trade deadline, so it would not be surprising if the Sharks pursued him during the summer. With Schneider being 24 years old and the Sharks needing some serious help on the right side of their defense, they could be a great match.
Simon Nemec, New Jersey Devils
If the Devils end up making Nemec available for trade during the offseason, the Sharks need to make a major push for him. The 22-year-old blueliner would have the potential to be a long-term top-pairing defenseman for the Sharks as they look to continue to head into the right direction. With this, he would be a perfect pickup for San Jose.
Rasmus Andersson, Vegas Golden Knights
If the Sharks want to add a proven veteran to their blueline who can play big minutes, Andersson would make sense for them as a target. He would be a strong fit on the Sharks' top pairing and would work on both their power play and penalty kill if signed. Due to this, if Andersson tests the free-agent market this offseason, the Sharks should consider pursuing him.
