Jordan Binnington Offseason Trade Linked to 4 Teams
The St. Louis Blues are very likely trading goaltender Jordan Binnington this summer.
The veteran goalie is entering the final season of his contract, and with Joel Hofer proving this season he's capable of leading the charge, the Blues will continue their ongoing retool, moving on from Binnington.
The Richmond Hill, ON native is signed for next season at $6 million AAV, and owns a 10-team no-trade list. At 32 years old, there's certainly something to play for next season as this will likely be Binnington's last multi-year contract he signs in the NHL. He dressed in 41 games this season for St. Louis, compared to 46 for Hofer, and posted a .873 save percentage. Needless to say, his trade value isn't at an all-time high, but everyone saw the performance he put up in the 4 Nations Faceoff and recent Olympics, and know his Stanley Cup pedigree is hard to come by.
As far as linked teams go, the Pittsburgh Penguins, Edmonton Oilers, Carolina Hurricanes, and Florida Panthers all have major decisions to make in their crease, so there's certainly a chance Binnington ends up on one of these four clubs.
David Pagnotta: There are going to be teams looking at goaltending this summer, they will be talking to St. Louis about Jordan Binnington; could be Florida; what happens in Carolina...the Oilers...Pittsburgh - DFO Rundown (4/22)
The Blues have three first-round picks, they've just traded their captain and best defenceman, and they're likely moving on from Binnington, Jordan Kyrou and Robert Thomas this summer. Times are a changing for the Blues.
