NHL Rumors: 3 Devils Offseason Top-Six Winger Targets
The New Jersey Devils disappointed this season and have missed the playoffs because of it. When noting that the Devils entered the season with the expectation of being one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, there is no question that they underperformed this campaign.
The Devils should now be aggressive during the offseason because of it. Their biggest need heading into the summer is a legitimate top-six winger, so let's look at three players who the Devils should strongly consider targeting this offseason.
Alex Tuch, Buffalo Sabres
If Tuch hits the free-agent market this offseason instead of re-signing with the Sabres, expect the Devils to target him. He would be a perfect addition to their top six, as he would give them another legitimate star to play on their top line with Jesper Bratt and Jack Hughes. In 78 games this season, he has 32 goals and 65 points.
Steven Stamkos, Nashville Predators
With the Predators missing the playoffs again this season, it would not be surprising if they look to move out some of their veterans this summer. Stamkos will be one of their top trade candidates to watch, and he is exactly the kind of star forward the Devils should have on their radar. While he is now 36 years old, he showed this season that he can still produce like a star. In 81 games this campaign, he has 40 goals and 63 points.
Jordan Kyrou, St. Louis Blues
The Blues will be one of the NHL's top sellers to watch during the summer. Kyrou is a player who has been in the rumor mill for a long time now, and the Devils would be wise to kick tires on him. If the Devils acquired him, he would be a strong addition to their top six. When playing at his highest level, the 27-year-old forward is a 30-goal and 70-point threat.
