NHL Rumors: 3 Offseason Trade Fits for Rangers' Braden Schneider

Braden Schneider, New York Rangers

The New York Rangers should make multiple changes to their roster as they continue their rebuild. One of their top trade candidates to watch this summer is pending restricted free agent (RFA) defenseman Braden Schneider. The right-shot blueliner was a popular name in the rumor mill leading up to this year's trade deadline, so it would not be surprising if he generated trade interest this offseason.

Because of this, let's take a look at three teams that could look to trade for Schneider this offseason.

Boston Bruins

One of the Bruins' top objectives should be to add another right-shot defenseman for their top four. Because of this, a former first-round pick like Schneider certainly has the potential to grab their attention. This is especially when noting that he is still only 24 years old and could be a strong fit on a Bruins team that is focused on both the present and the future.

Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers could be another team to watch when it comes to Schneider this offseason. They could end up looking for another stay-at-home right-shot defenseman if pending UFA Connor Murphy ends up walking. Yet, even if Murphy stays, Schneider would still be a good pickup for the Oilers' right side.

San Jose Sharks

The Sharks were heavily linked to Schneider leading up to the deadline, so they are certainly a team to keep an eye on when it comes to the Rangers blueliner this offseason. They are entering the summer with several pending UFA defensemen, so it would make sense if they targeted a young defenseman like Schneider for their right side.
