Blues' Jordan Binnington Trade Linked to 2 Teams

The St. Louis Blues are expected to trade goaltender Jordan Binnington this offseason.

With Joel Hofer ready and able to take over as the team's number-one goalie, Binnington has found himself near the top of almost all then insider's offseason trade boards. The Blues are retooling on the fly and are expected to use Binnington to try and find a top-nine forward who can step into the team's lineup on a regular basis next season.

The veteran goaltender had a down season last year, but once again made a name for himself on the international stage with Team Canada. Binnington is signed through the 2026-27 season at $6 million AAV, and does own a 10-team no-trade list, so he'll have some say in the matter.

As far as potential trade destinations go, Daily Faceoff's Matt Larkin sees two teams a head above the rest when it comes to landing spots:

Binnington is coming off the worst season of his career but showed enough at the Olympics to remind us he can be an asset on the right team given his puckhandling and clutch-save ability. Is there enough of a market for him right now? The Edmonton Oilers are the clear team to watch. We shouldn’t sleep on the Florida Panthers, either, if they opt not to re-sign Sergei Bobrovsky.

Don't be surprised to see the Oilers and Panthers involved, and there's also the Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins who could be in the market for a new face in their crease next season. The Flyers are searching for a tandem partner for Daniel Vladar, meanwhile the Penguins are moving on from Stuart Skinner and need a partner for Arturs Silovs, as they ponder some AHL talent for callup as well.

Binnington appears to be finished with the Blues, and he won't be the only core piece moved this summer in St. Louis.
