Bruins' Bluechip Prospect Goes Off At IIHF World Championship

The Boston Bruins made a smart choice by trading for center Fraser Minten last March 2025

Acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs for defenseman Brendan Carlo, with 15 percent of his salary retained, they maximized the return with a 2026 first-round pick, and a 2025 fourth-round pick attached to the prospect.

He finished his first full season with the Bruins in 2025-26, scoring 35 points (17 goals, 18 assists) in 82 games, being moved up and down the lineup by head coach Marco Sturm.

Per Daily FaceOff, Minten centered the third line during the last game of the postseason, flanked by forwards Alex Steeves and Michael Eyessimont.

Now, Minten gets to play in his first World Championship as a 21-year-old forward for Canada.

He was quick to contribute, adding two assists to Canada's 5-3 win over Sweden, and was named "Player of the Game" for Canada.

Minten is one of eight Bruins players suiting up for their countries during this season's IIHF.

Minten is one of eight Bruins representing their respective countries at the tournament. James Hagens, Mason Lohrei, and Alex Steeves are on Team USA; Henri Jokiharju and Joonas Korpisalo are with Finland; Lukas Reichel is with Germany; and Matěj Blümel is with Czechia.

Minten's Clutch Play At The World Championship

Minten's first assist of the game came at the end of the second period. Minten moved the puck through the neutral zone and chipped the puck to forward Dylan Holloway, scoring a goal, giving Canada the 3-2 lead.

His next assist was clutch, as the game was tied 3-3 between Switzerland and Canada in the third period. Minten would acquire the advantage in the offensive zone, who'd connect with Porter Martone, who dished it to Connor Brown to finish the play.
