Mitch Marner doing it all for Vegas Golden Knights

Look away, Leafs Nation - Mitch Marner had himself a career night in Game 6 of a Stanley Cup Playoff series.

The Vegas Golden Knights forward scored two goals and added one assist, including the game winner, to help lead his team to a first-round playoff series win over the Utah Mammoth. Marner had yet to score a goal in the series heading into Game 6, but had been doing it all, in all three zones, something a lot of fans don't necessarily realize.

With all of Marner's struggles in deciding playoff games as a Leaf, many were starting to question his ability to step up in big moments. As a Leaf, Marner played 26 times in either a Game 5, 6, or 7, and had recorded just one goal. But not this season, not as a Golden Knight. It's a whole new Marner, and one that could lead his team all the way.

"Mitchy's been doing a lot of little things people don't understand - some small little plays," Golden Knights head coach John Tortorella said after the game. "But he had some big plays tonight that everybody can see. So, really good for him, for his confidence, going into the next series."

"He was great. I think tonight, he was probably at his best," Colton Sissons said of Marner after the 5-1 victory, according to Sportsnet's Emily Sadler. "We need Mitchy on the scoresheet as much as possible, so hopefully he can take some confidence into the next series."

Marner finished the first-round series with two goals, and five assists in six games. He continues to be one of the Golden Knights' best defensive forwards as well, and is making a huge impact in his first playoff run outside of Toronto.

Vegas will faceoff against the Anaheim Ducks in the second round, as Game 1 is set for Tuesday night.
