Canucks Trade Rumors: 4 Teams Named With 'Interest' In Jake DeBrusk

Jake DeBrusk has made it eminently clear to the Vancouver Canucks that he isn't interested in being around for an all-out rebuild. He would like a "change of scenery," writes insider David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period
While a formal trade demand hasn't been made, both parties are on the same page, and (new GM Ryan) Johnson has received calls about the 29-year-old since taking over.

There is believed to be interest in DeBrusk from several teams, including the Ottawa Senators, Seattle Kraken, Winnipeg Jets, and Columbus Blue Jackets. Trade discussions are expected to intensify in the days leading up to next week's NHL draft.

The Senators have been connected to the scoring winger this offseason, as noted by Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen earlier this month. They are actively looking to add a top-six forward to provide more reliable secondary scoring and a stronger identity on their top two lines. DeBrusk has been extremely consistent in that role in the past five seasons, topping 20 goals comfortably each year, except for the 19 he recorded in 2023-24.

The Kraken are always in the market to add additional scoring. Particularly as they could be losing Bobby McMann in unrestricted free agency this summer.

The Blue Jackets' top priority will be trying to land a top-six winger, while the Jets are also looking for some complementary scoring depth.

The Canucks won't be just giving DeBrusk away. He has five years left on a deal that pays him a reasonable $5.5 million per season. It comes with a full no-movement clause, so it will be up to DeBrusk if any of these locations—or others who join the fray—are suitable for him.
