Insider Reports Flyers Close To Locking Up Dan Vladar
When the Philadelphia Flyers signed perennial backup goalie Dan Vladar to compete for a starting job last summer, they couldn't have imagined it would turn out the way it did. Vladar proved himself to be a legit starter between the pipes, and was a huge reason the Flyers were able to surge into the playoffs for the first time in six years.
Now, with only one year left on Vladar's two-year contract with a $3.35 million AAV, the two sides are close to a long-term extension.

As reported by insider Kevin Weekes, the Flyers & Vladar are working towards locking in a five-year extension in the "mid $5 million AAV range".
Vladar, 28, had never started more than 29 games in a season up until this past year. But he quickly established himself as the main man in the crease for Philly, and wound up starting 51 contests, posting a 29-14-7 record with a career-best tying .906 save percentage and personal best 2.42 goals against average.
He even finished sixth in the balloting for the Vezina Trophy as the league's top goalie.
Vladar then went on to post a 2.18 GAA and a .922 SV% in 10 playoff games for the Flyers, which included a first-round series victory.
