NHL Trade: Predators & Avalanche Complete Deal For Jack Drury

The trading frenzy this week continues in the NHL, as the Colorado Avalanche have traded center Jack Drury to the Nashville Predators for a couple of former first-round picks.

Along with Drury, the Avs send Chase Bradley and a third-round pick in 2029 to Nashville, in exchange for Fedor Svechkov and Zachary L’Heureux.

Predators POHO Chris MacFarland has gone back to the well to deal with his old team once again, and he's very familiar with what Drury can bring.

“Jack Drury is a hard-working, reliable, full-sheet of the ice center who can handle the tough assignments while being elite in the face-off circle,” MacFarland said in a statement. “His addition to our forward group bolsters our depth in the middle of the ice, and we’re thrilled to have him on our roster."

Drury is seen as the likely third-line center in Nashville.

MacFarland also brought Ross Colton over from Colorado in a trade just over a week ago.

The face-off specialist Drury was the Avs' lone restricted free agent, and they decided instead to cash him in for another bottom-six, two-way center, but one with cost certainty. Fedor Svechkov is signed to a two-year deal with a $1.25M AAV that kicks in this coming season. He was the 19th overall selection in the 2021 NHL Draft.

Drury is projected by AFP Analytics to be able to pull in a three-year deal at a $2.86M AAV. With Colorado's cap crunch, they get a big savings with Svechkov.
