To be clear, the trade is NOT done. But this is a distinct possibility worth watching.
Seravalli makes clear that a deal is not done at this point, but is a "distinct possibility".
Further reports this evening indicate that another team is involved in these advanced talks as well, and LeBrun has identified it as the St. Louis Blues.
My understanding is that the Ducks were weighing offers from two teams on McTavish in the last few hours, one of them being the Rangers as @frank_seravalli says here ⤵️ https://t.co/pOFTO9DJer

McTavish had a disappointing season in Anaheim after a contentious offseason last year trying to negotiate a contract as an RFA. In a middling 17-goal, 41-point season, he faced a number of healthy scratches, including during the playoffs. But with a high draft pedigree (3rd overall in 2021), and still only 23 years old, many teams are salivating to get their hands on the potential second-line center.
He is also signed long-term, on a six-year deal with a reasonable $7 million AAV (assuming he can fulfill his potential).
It sounds like the Rangers and Blues may have the upper hand in the McTavish talks right now.
