Mason McTavish trade talk has been hot and heavy this offseason, with a number of teams involved. Thursday evening, a report from insider Frank Seravalli tells us that the Anaheim Ducks & New York Rangers are engaged in 'advanced discussions' on a trade for the embattled pivot.

Seravalli makes clear that a deal is not done at this point, but is a "distinct possibility".

Further reports this evening indicate that another team is involved in these advanced talks as well, and LeBrun has identified it as the St. Louis Blues.

McTavish had a disappointing season in Anaheim after a contentious offseason last year trying to negotiate a contract as an RFA. In a middling 17-goal, 41-point season, he faced a number of healthy scratches, including during the playoffs. But with a high draft pedigree (3rd overall in 2021), and still only 23 years old, many teams are salivating to get their hands on the potential second-line center.

He is also signed long-term, on a six-year deal with a reasonable $7 million AAV (assuming he can fulfill his potential).

It sounds like the Rangers and Blues may have the upper hand in the McTavish talks right now.
