Connor McMichael, acquired by the St. Louis Blues as part of the Jordan Kyrou trade with the Washington Capitals, is now locked up for the long-term in St. Louis. The Blues have announced a huge six-year deal for McMichael, at a $6.75 million AAV, avoiding arbitration.

McMichael was a restricted free agent, and the signing avoids arbitration for the two sides. He was coming off a $2.1M AAV. Going to arbitration and arguing against a newly acquired player is not the most ideal situation, so coming to this deal was very important.

After setting career highs with 26 goals and 57 points in the 2024-25 season, the 25-year-old saw his offense take a dip this past season as his role and line assignments changed, to 14 goals and 46 points. But the Blues were obviously enamored with the promise the former first-round pick has shown, and have secured him for the long term, through the 2021-32 season.

McMichael is now the 6th-highest player on his new team and the 5th-highest forward. He's behind only Robert Thomas ($8.125M), Pavel Buchnevich ($8M), Philip Broberg ($8M), Dylan Holloway ($7.75M) and Mason McTavish ($7M).

McMichael was drafted with the 25th overall selection in the 2019 NHL Draft by the Capitals.
