Former Sabres GM Kevyn Adams Back In NHL Team Front Office
Kevyn Adams' tenure as the Buffalo Sabres general manager ended in December after five years on the job and zero playoff appearances. But the team that he had assembled went on, immediately after he was fired, to a 36-9-5 record the rest of the season, winning the Atlantic Division and ultimately ending their 14-year playoff drought.
Now, six months after getting his pink slip in Buffalo, Adams is back in an NHL front office, hired by the Sabres' division rival, Boston Bruins, as a special advisor to GM Don Sweeney.
It's all part of a sweeping set of front office moves by the Bruins on Tuesday, which also included the departure of assistant GM Evan Gold, effective August 1st. Gold had interviewed for a number of open GM jobs this cycle, including the Toronto Maple Leafs. In fact, there are rumors that he might be joining the Toronto front office in some capacity next month.Bruins announce changes to their Hockey Operations Department: pic.twitter.com/YIJe1uQi15

For Adams, it's a full cycle sort of move, as he finally lands with the organization that drafted him in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft, way back in 1993. He never played in a game with Boston, however, going on to suit up with several other NHL teams, including the Leafs.
Adams won a Stanley Cup as a player with the 2006 Carolina Hurricanes.
Other new postings announced by the Bruins included Dennis Bonvie and Jeremy Rogalski as assistant GMs and Alex Gimenez as director of hockey operations, collective bargaining agreement.
