TRADE: Rangers Send Vincent Trocheck To Surprising Team
Per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, Trocheck is being traded to the Utah Mammoth.
Sean Durzi, top prospect Cole Beaudoin, and a third-round pick are headed back to the Rangers.
The move ends a saga that stretched back to the March trade deadline, when GM Chris Drury first began shopping his second-line center without finding a match.

A Deal Months in the Making
Drury had been trying to move Trocheck for months, with a deal failing to materialize at both the deadline and the June draft as the Rangers held firm on their asking price.
The obstacle throughout was Trocheck's stated preference to remain on the East Coast and a partial no-trade list that gave him control over his destination.
Utah had long been floated as a fit given the Mammoth's mountain of cap space and their need for a culture-setting veteran center, even though a move out West was not believed to be his first choice.
Something clearly changed to get it done on July 1.

Trocheck, 32, is a defensively responsible pivot who excels in the faceoff dot and was a member of the gold-medal-winning United States Olympic team in February.
He posted 53 points in 67 games this past season and carries three years remaining on his contract at a very manageable $5.625 million cap hit, a desirable number for a productive two-way center.
For Utah, this is exactly the kind of veteran addition a young, ascending team built around Clayton Keller and Logan Cooley needed to add some snarl and playoff-tested experience down the middle.
For the Rangers, the deal continues Drury's retooling of an aging roster, freeing up money and a roster spot to build around a younger core after also acquiring Pavel Dorofeyev earlier in the offseason.
The full return heading back to New York had not yet been reported at the time of Friedman's announcement.
