Kings' Kevin Fiala Undergoes Follow-Up Leg Surgery

The Los Angeles Kings are heading to training camp next week without one of their best forwards. The team announced that Kevin Fiala won't be ready for camp, as he had to undergo a follow-up leg surgery recently.

Fiala broke his leg during the Mila Cortina Olympics, in a nasty collision with Team Canada forward Tom Wilson. Fiala missed the second half of last season and the Stanley Cup Playoffs, after getting hurt on February 13, and having surgery in Italy.

In his 56 games last season with the Kings, Fiala scored 18 goals and 22 assists. The 30-year-old winger has been a staple in the Kings' top six and will surely leave a gaping hole for the very thin Kings heading into next year.

At this point, there's no timeline for Fiala's return, and it's likely going to be at least a month or two before we see him in action. The Kings faceoff against the Colorado Avalanche in their season opener on September 30, in what's going to be a very interesting season in LA. They've already told Drew Doughty they won't be re-signing him during the season and want to see how the year pans out, so if the Kings don't make some noise early, look for them to move off of some of their veteran players.
