Report: 6 More Teams Interested in Dylan Larkin; List Could Expand Further

With the Dylan Larkin saga now about to spill into the start of the regular season, the Detroit Red Wings' former captain will have to wait out his trade request a bit longer and shift his 2026-27 into gear in the Motor City. 

But insider David Pagnotta reports on Sunday that several new teams may enter the mix, as his limited-but-expanding list hasn't yet produced a deal.

Larkin may ultimately decide to expand his list further the longer this situation takes. And there remains plenty of “outside” interest, as teams like Montreal, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Boston, Carolina and San Jose are among the clubs that have poked around since June. There are others. And as per previous reports, offers pitched by teams both on and off his list, like Boston and Minnesota, have been rejected, so far.

Larkin, following his trade request at the beginning of the offseason, originally had a three-team list he was prepared to go to: the Minnesota Wild, Vegas Golden Knights and Florida Panthers. Since then, the list has expanded, to "about 8 teams", per Elliotte Friedman, including the likes of the Colorado Avalanche and Washington Capitals. 

But if Larkin were amenable to opening it up further, as Pagnotta suggests, he might have a much better chance of getting his wish to find a new home. 

And as Pagnotta and others have pointed out, the Red Wings are not interested in a picks-and-prospects package, though a recent report from Kevin Allen of Detroit Hockey Now says, "they will consider prospects who are close to being ready to be on an NHL roster." 

Larkin did not skate in any of Detroit's preseason games due to an injury, but the team is hopeful he will be ready for its season opener on Friday, October 2, against the New York Rangers.
