Dylan Larkin Not In Red Wings Lineup Thursday, Trade Talks Intensify

The Dylan Larkin situation could be hitting a fever pitch on Thursday. Head coach Todd McLellan said that Larkin will not be in the Detroit Red Wings lineup for Thursday night's game. Or anytime again, it appears.
Larkin's agent Pat Brisson said today that Larkin has decided not to play any longer until a trade is done. “Dylan’s had enough of the situation. We believe he’s been very professional and cooperative through this process.”

That has included, to be fair, showing up to training camp, recovering fro a minor injury, and playing with the Red Wings this season to this point.

Pierre LeBrun has added that his sources tell us that "trade talks have escalated on Larkin." He add that it doesn't necessarily mean it leads to a trade imminently, but it is a development nevertheless.

Per LeBrun, “ There were talks in the last 24 hours between Larkin's camp and the Red Wings, both last night and again this morning, and what was communicated from the agents to Detroit was that Larkin feels he's given the team ample time since his trade request in May to get a deal done. Larkin has had enough, so the decision was made he won't play tonight nor for the foreseeable future, hoping a trade materializes. Fluid situation still. Red Wings circling back to teams with interest, etc., as talks escalate.”

Meanwhile, Emily Kaplan has suggested that, surprisingly, the Minnesota Wild have one of the stronger offers so far. We have been led to believe over the past few months that Minnesota’s offer just wasn’t to Detroit’s liking.

We’ll have to see how this all unfolds.
