NHLTR Mock Trade: Kings acquire Jets' Connor Hellebuyck in 5-piece deal

Welcome back to another edition of NHLTR Mock Trade. We've had success over the years getting the majority of trade components correct, but who's counting?

For this segment we'll head to Winnipeg and check in with disgruntled Jets' goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. The suspended Vezina trophy winner is still at home waiting for general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff to pull off a trade. The Jets are being patient with this process and have been mulling over options for months. Recently, the heat has picked up on the Los Angeles Kings winning the sweepstakes. Our Mock Trade series heads to California as here's a potential deal to consider:

NHLTR Mock Trade: Kings acquire Connor Hellebuyck from Jets in exchange for Carter George, Trevor Moore, Anton Forsberg, and 2027 first-round pick.

The Jets don't necessarily need a 1-A goaltender back in this trade considering Stuart Skinner looks to be in great shape. Forsberg gives them a capable backup for this season, on an expiring contract. George is a solid prospect, and something the Jets could use more of in their system. With Hellebuyck locked in, the Kings could afford to move off George. Trevor Moore gives the Jets a speedy winger who can play within your middle six. Moore's work ethic fits well with the Jets' playing style, and he brings some security being under contract through next season. The first-round pick is a must, simple as that, regardless of where Hellebuyck winds up.

Yes, the Kings would have an expensive duo for this season with Darcy Kuemper making $5.2 million, however, he's on an expiring contract and that's just a short-term crutch.
