Report: Flyers Forward Travis Konecny Linked To Mammoth

Under the Rick Tocchet regime, the Philadelphia Flyers are under scrutiny from fans for their poor performance and treatment of  Matvei Michkov. The atmosphere surrounding the Flyers camp is one of precarity, as the team is 2-6-3 to start the regular season.

In addition to the bad press thanks to Tocchet's coaching philosophy of giving fourth-line grinders like Noel Acciari top-line minutes compared to skilled forwards like Michkov, the team has explored trades with the Utah Mammoth recently, according to Anthony Di Marco.

One of those trades could end up being with the Pacific Conference's Utah Mammoth, an expansion team born from the ashes of the Coyotes, and poised for bigger things.

Adding a top-six forward like Konecny would push them deeper into the postseason, as they got a taste of playoff experience in 2026.

According to Di Marco, there's some interest in 1st-round pick Calbey Desnoyers, whom the Flyers missed out on drafting, as they took Porter Martone at No. 6 in 2025.

An Issue Of Abundance

The Flyers have a wealth of wingers, with Alex Bump, Cole Knuble, Matvei Michkov, and Trevor Zegras, and Konecny could be the odd-man out in this equation.

"Speaking with sources Monday, there is a growing sense of frustration from within the Flyers organization with Konecny,” Di Marco wrote in his latest article on the team.

Could The Flyers Trade Konecny For Sixth Overall Pick In 2025 Caleb Desnoyers?

With the team exploring a trade on the horizon, they could solve one issue: an overabundance of forwards on the right, where Noel Acciari, Michael Bunting, Matvei Michkov, and Cole Knuble have found a home.

No word on whether or not it'll be permanent, but for now Acciari gets a top-six billing, while the team is missing Konecny, who is on injured reserve.

Could general manager Danny Briere regain some of his reputation if he's able to make a deal with GM Bill Armstrong and the Mammoth for Desnoyers?
