Report: Only One Untouchable On Flyers Roster As Trade Offers Stream In

The Philadelphia Flyers continue to find new ways to lose. And they also continue to receive oodles of trade offers from teams looking to capitalize on their poor start.

And if rivals can come up with the right offer, pretty much the entire Flyers roster is up for grabs, according to Anthony Di Marco of Daily Faceoff, except one.

Yes, Di Marco writes, there is one untouchable in Philly, and that's Porter Martone.
Based on conversations with team sources, the sense is that forward Porter Martone is the only true untouchable on this team. He is off to a slow start with just one goal this season (then again who isn’t on the Flyers?) but the 2025-sixth-overall pick is still held in high regard and could very well be the team’s captain one day.

Wingers Foerster and Matvei Michkov are certainly not being shopped or by the team, but they are not untouchable. It would be truly surprising to hear either of their names in trade discussions.

He then goes on to note that defenseman Travis Sanheim would be next on the list of "unlikely" trade candidates, but, again, not impossible.

"When a team is this bad, almost everything needs to be on the table," writes Di Marco.

The Flyers have begun the season winless in nine games (0-6-3), while being outscored 33-11.

Rival teams continue to prey like vultures on the Flyers

At the same time, a trade (or multiple ones) might be difficult to pull off at this point.

"Like it or not, there isn’t a move (or multiple ones) that can be made at this time of year to fix what is going on," Di Marco admits. "(GM Daniel) Briere is getting a lot of calls, but they are mostly regarding teams looking to dump players on the Flyers in an effort to 'help' them. Briere has no leverage on the trade front right now and would be dealing from a position of weakness."

This jibes with a report from Frank Seravalli earlier this week.

And with head coach Rick Tocchet apparently not going anywhere, this team is just going to have to bear down, and fix it from within.

As Elliotte Friedman noted on 32 Thoughts, "(Briere) is not going to do something that makes no sense. I just think he's trying to be smart and not walk himself into a bad move because of the pressure."
